How to use this tool
- Upload your photo by dropping it in or tapping the box.
- Choose a passport or visa preset, or type a custom width and height.
- Add a maximum size in KB if the form has a limit, then download the JPG.
Choosing the pixel size
100 KB is enough for a sharp head-and-shoulders photo up to about 800 pixels wide. For a full document scan, such as a certificate, use the JPG to PDF tool instead, or keep the width to around 1000 px so the text stays readable.
Phone photos are much bigger
A photo straight from a phone camera is often 2–5 MB and 4000 pixels wide. Resizing to the size the form needs does most of the work; the quality setting only has to make small adjustments.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo from MB to 100 KB?
Resize it to a smaller pixel size such as 600 × 750 and save as JPG. This page does both.
Can I keep the original pixel size?
Choose Custom and type the original width and height, but large photos may not fit under 100 KB.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in any modern mobile browser.
