Medical editorial policy
Health pages on Everyday Toolnest explain lab tests and calculators in plain language. People use them to understand their own results, so accuracy and honesty come first.
Who reviews our health content
Every lab test page and health calculator is reviewed by Dr Husain Farooq, medical doctor and biochemistry educator. The review checks reference ranges, units, causes and safety advice against the sources listed on each page. The review date is shown on every page.
Sources we use
We rely on primary and authoritative sources: MedlinePlus (US National Library of Medicine), the NHS, the WHO, Lab Tests Online UK, and guidelines from bodies such as the ADA, KDIGO, the American Thyroid Association, NICE and the American College of Gastroenterology. Each page lists the sources it uses.
What our pages and tools do not do
They do not diagnose, screen for disease, rank possible illnesses or recommend treatment. Report explainers compare the numbers you type with a reference range you can change, and show general information. Values you enter stay in your browser and are never sent or stored.
Reference ranges
Ranges differ between laboratories, methods and populations. We show typical adult values from our sources and ask readers to use the range printed on their own report.
Conflict of interest
Our medical reviewer is also involved in running a pathology laboratory. Our pages do not promote any laboratory, never recommend extra tests for commercial reasons, and contain no sponsored or partner-written medical content.
Updates and corrections
Pages are reviewed on a schedule and when guidelines change. To report an error, email hello@everydaytoolnest.com. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and the review date updated.
